How Often Should You Water A Sunflower

Watering a sunflower can rarely solve most of its challenges. Generally, mature plants need to be watered just once or twice a week, whereas more young and tender ones require additional moisture.

To determine the exact frequency, you must consider your location’s climate, the condition of the soil, and the size/age of the flower. While smaller flowers may need less water often, it is best to let the soil dry out slightly between waterings – avoid over-watering at all costs, as it can easily suffocate your plant!

Also, check the soil several inches below the surface – this will indicate if your plant needs watering or not. Dry soil indicates that water should be added, whereas wet patches show that you don’t need to add any yet.

Keep in mind that more flowering and vigorous growth will require extra water during hot days and periods of extended direct sunlight. Also, make sure to keep an eye on wilting leaves or petioles, as they are often definitive indicators that your sunflower needs some hydrating love!
